Hot Products: Shower, Water, and Air Filtration

Anyone that has been diagnosed with Lyme disease knows the importance of detoxification as part of the healing process.  Surprisingly, some of the most common avenues of toxin introduction into the body are often overlooked.  Whether you have Lyme disease or not, consider these very simple methods of eliminating toxic chemicals and heavy metals from entering your body.

Through my involvement in the Lyme community, I meet with and talk to dozens of people each week.  Surprisingly, very few of them use filtered water for showering and bathing or even drinking.  Please consider these as an option for helping to remove unnecessary exposure and potential further damage to your health.

With the number of things that most of us likely already have in terms of toxins and the amount of work we do to remove them, why keep adding to the burden?  If the toilet is already stopped up, would you want to keep adding more to it? The products that I mention here are from a company that I have purchased several items from in the past and have been very happy with to date.

Shower Filtration

A long, hot shower or bath creates the perfect environment for the inhalation of toxic chemicals or penetration through the skin into the body.  It is reported that the toxic elements one may introduce into the body from shower and bath water may be 100 times greater than that from drinking tap water.  If we, as a society, focus on drinking bottled water, why do we also not install a relatively inexpensive shower filter to protect our health from the ravages of toxic chemicals?

"We conclude that skin absorption of contaminants in drinking water has been underestimated and that ingestion may not constitute the sole or even primary route of exposure."
American Journal of Public Health

Water Filtration

I don't think anyone would debate the need for filtering your daily drinking water as well to remove as many contaminants as possible from becoming an added part of your total body burden.  There are many different options available.  For a full listing of water filtration options available, visit here.

For water distillation, the Waterwise 9000 is a good option and one that I have personally.  Though I use less distilled water now than in the past, this is a good option for those looking to distill.  There is some debate about the long-term use of distilled water due to the fact that most of the mineral content is lost in the distillation process and thus some argue that it may actually cause minerals to be removed from the body.  Personally, I used this unit for a couple of years and I first learned about it at the recommendation of a doctor.

My favorite products in terms of water filtration are a bit more expensive but offer some very attractive features.  A full list of ionizers can be found here.  The unit that I personally own is the "Life Ionizer 7500 Water Ionizer for Alkaline and Acidic Water".

From the vendor:

These ionizers perform a filtration procedure which eliminates a major portion of both organic and inorganic contaminants. This procedure is executed by using silver impregnated carbon to make sure that the filtration process eradicates as many possibly harmful compounds as achievable. The water ionizers then execute the electrolysis or ionization procedure which is executed in a compartment that contains number electrodes that are negatively charged which attract the positive ions in your water. This makes sure that the water that is dispensed is loaded with negative ions, therefore turning it into alkaline water which is very healthy. Ionized or alkaline water is very beneficial and healthy for us because it assists our body’s pH to gradually move down to the optimal pH which is a little alkaline. The alkalinity of the water can also assist the body to eliminate toxins that accumulate within our body and thereby help to increase our level of health. The water is also very good for us because it can augment the taste of food that has been cooked in it. The water perform additional services to just filtration and as such are very valuable for those who value their health highly.

Air Filtration

In addition to having Lyme disease, mold sensitivity is also one of my challenges in addition to having a number of allergies.  A good home air purifier can be a useful option.  For a full list of purifiers and ionizers, visit here.

The unit that I use personally and think is an excellent option is the IQAir HealthPro Plus.  I have been very pleased with it so far.  It is not cheap, but then I am breathing this air for 12 hours or more a day.  I also have an Austin Air filter and a Fresh Air

Personally, I don't have a preference as to whether or not you use the same vendor that I use.  I think they offer good products, excellent service, and are reasonably priced.  However, my purpose will be served if you simply start protecting yourself and your family.

If you do use any of the products found on this page, I would welcome your feedback.  I would not recommend this company if I had not used them myself.

Scott
